Drake’s durability proven Metalphoto ® nameplates landed on the moon in July of 1969 on the manned lunar mission Apollo 11.
Metalphoto’s anodized aluminum is readable after prolonged exposure to a variety of harsh operating conditions including weather/sunlight, heat, abrasion, chemicals and salt-spray.
The benefit is fewer replacements due to illegibility – in turn, you have guaranteed regulatory compliance, asset identification and brand representation.
Your product has been tested and is ready for the launch. Your logo has been crafted with the utmost care. Ensure that your branding efforts stand the tests of time and usage with durable branding materials.
Polycarbonate is a popular choice for for graphic overlays, control panels, nameplates, membrane switches, serial tags, and prototypes. It maintains its appearance in normal and rugged settings (like industrial environments) when exposed to harsh chemicals and extreme weather. (Polycarbonate is also known by brand name Lexan®.) Labels, tags, and overlays are available by the sheet.
Polyester (brand name Mylar®) is also an incredibly durable material for branding. Metallic and “flat” colors are both effective when used on polyester. Typically a polyester label will have a clear or matte polyester overlay over the graphics to enhance the durability of the label or decal. Drake polyester labels offer durability against water, UV rays, and chemicals/solvents. Labels and decals are available by the roll with pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive.
When affixed properly, metal can be one of the most durable materials to use for logo and branding decals and tags. The .062 brass alloy branding plate below is 2″ x 3.5″. The brass is pre-masked and black graphics are screened on. The parts were made without adhesive – the plates will be placed into a oval inlay on a wooden pool table.

Anodized Aluminum and Stainless Steel are well-suited for Branding & Permanent Product Marking in rugged and high use environments where branding and product information must withstand exposure to chemicals, fuels, grime, sunlight, high temperatures, cleaning solvents, salt, and abrasives.
Multi-color graphic fading and shading is available on these tough substrates with economical, fast digital printing.
Anodized Aluminum tags and labels are available in thickness from .003″ to .032″ and can be printed and die cut to customer design.
Stainless Steel applications are available in a range of different gauges: 8 gauge to 26 gauge with special thicknesses available upon request. Available alloys are 304 and 316 for the most demanding of conditions.
Rivet holes or pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive available.

Polycarbonate (or Lexan®) is a plastic material that is known for its durability and is often used when a resistant, tough material is required for labels and tags. It can be used for control panels, nameplates, graphic overlays, membrane switches, and variable serial tags. Polycarbonate is suitable for branding purposes and is durable enough for tough environments like oil fields.
Lexan® labels and tags from Drake are designed to be weather & chemical resistant and to maintain appearance, longevity, legibility and functionality of information under tough conditions. Resistant to chemicals such as caustic soda, petro diesel, and emulsifiers.
Assembly Services are Available (shown above & below).
Drake Industries’ Lexan® applications are available in thicknesses of .005″ to .030″ and can be printed and die cut to customer design, including PMS color matching. Variable data such as serial and barcode information is easily supported, as are a variety of acrylic, pressure sensitive adhesive options.

Void Labels. Tamper Evident labels. Tamper Resistant. What’s the difference and does it matter?
“Void labels” is a generalized term. Find out what surface the labels will adhere to determine which type of label your project requires.
Tamper Resistant labels manufactured by Drake Industries are available in a thickness of .002″ to enable application flexibility over seams and corners. Both types of labels, Tamper Evident and Tamper Resistant, can be found in industries such as oil/gas, aerospace/NASA, avionics, government, industrial/manufacturing, military, oceanic/nautical, and consumer electronics.
Drake Void labels offer durability against water, UV rays, and chemicals/solvents. Available by the roll with pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive.
UL® and CSA® rated.

One of the most attractive features of the Metalphoto® process is that the photographic image affords extreme detail and contrast at ANY size.
Drake Industries in Austin, Texas offers plates and tags manufactured with the Metalphoto® process in bold colors as well as the traditional black/natural aluminum background (silver).
The Metalphoto® process burns images, letters, and colors into photosensitive anodized aluminum. Images and letters will never scrape off the way they might with silk screening. The integrity of the aluminum is never compromised the way that it is when metal is etched or engraved.
Photosensitive Anodized Aluminum is Resistant to
- Abrasion and Corrosion
- Chemicals and Solvents
- Saltwater, Weather and Sun
- Temperatures up to 537°C / 1,000°F

Mylar®/polyester Thermal Transfer (or “Hot Stamp”) labels are designed to maintain their appearance, legibility, and functionality of information through a variety of conditions. Polyester is a durable label substrate manufactured from crude oil byproducts. Polyester/Mylar® consistently retains a professional glossy or matte appearance in harsh environments including
- Constant moisture/humidity,
- Pressure impacts and/or
- UV exposure.
You have probably seen polyester labels of this type used as branding labels, asset tags/labels, or identification decals.
Polyester labels/decals/stickers are available in thicknesses of .002″ to .010″ and can be printed and die cut to customer design, including PMS matching.
Variable data such as serial and barcode information is easily supported, as are ‘write-on’ surface options. Mylar®/polyester product marking solutions can be found in industries like aerospace, defense/military, consumer electronics, oil & gas, and many others.
Research the physical properties of polyester here to see if your application requires or could benefit from a polyester substrate. Adhesive is permanent pressure sensitive acrylic. Labels are provided on rolls.

Drake Industries was recognized with an outstanding supplier award from NOV Dynamic Drilling Solutions in April 2015.
Drake has been supplying NOV with durable marking & labeling products since 2006.
The Oil & Gas industry is particularly punishing on labels, tags, overlays, and plates. Tags and plates manufactured with stainless steel or photosensitive anodized aluminum are an excellent choice for demanding environments.
When colorful branding or instructional labels and graphic overlays are required, digitally printed polycarbonate and/ or vinyl labels and decals can withstand the harsh conditions found in oil & gas fields.
Drake is a turnkey resource for your durable marking & labeling product needs. We have been supplying the Texas and US energy industry with labels, overlays, plates and tags for over 50 years.
Polycarbonate material, sometimes referred to as Lexan®, is known for its durability and professional appearance.
It is used in many industries for product marking applications as
- Control Panels,
- Membrane Switches, and
- Serial Tags
Examples shown here are ATM labels. Polycarbonate is chemical and solvent resistant, has high temperature resistance, and has limited UV resistance. It is an excellent choice of material for use on ATMs. Images and text are transferred onto polycarbonate digitally or using silk screen technology.
Polycarbonate is also commonly used for prototype labels and overlays.
